The Japanese government and the US Administration have agreed to establish a system of cooperation in the development of technologies for the industrial use of carbon dioxide, which is emitted into the atmosphere by thermal power plants and other enterprises. The energy departments of the two countries are expected to sign an appropriate protocol in the near future, Trend news agency reported on Tuesday.
Carbon dioxide is supposed to be captured at industrial plants before it enters the atmosphere and processed into plastic, aviation fuel, etc. In the future, the question is posed of using the entire volume of carbon dioxide that is produced in the process of burning mineral fuel.
For this purpose, the United States and Japan intend to create a system of exchange of specialists and technologies, and to start joint projects. In Japan, such experiments are already underway, in particular at one of the thermal power plants in Hiroshima prefecture.
